Overview
Nano-X is a research field that focuses on developing nanoscale materials and devices for various applications, including electronics, energy, medicine, and materials science. From a research perspective, Nano-X offers a range of opportunities to explore the properties and behaviors of materials at the nanoscale, which can differ significantly from their bulk counterparts.
Ongoing research in Nano-X is focused on developing new materials with unique properties, understanding the fundamental physics and chemistry of nanoscale systems, and designing and optimizing nanodevices for various applications. Some of the key challenges in this field include developing reliable and scalable fabrication methods, characterizing and controlling nanoscale phenomena, and addressing safety and environmental concerns associated with nanomaterials.
The ability to control and manipulate atoms/molecules makes nanotechnology extremely versatile with potentially unlimited applications. Given the variety of disciplines spanned by this technology, IIT Hyderabad calls this thrust area Nano-X. IITH is conducting state-of-the-art research in both fundamental and applied areas of nanotechnology that is aided by its excellent experimental facilities that includes a clean room facility, SEM, TEM, EDA tools etc. The Fabless Chip Design Incubator is a shining example of IITH’s expertise in Nano-X.
