Dean SRC

Dean's Message

Warm greetings from the SRC office of IIT Hyderabad. It is heartening to witness the burgeoning growth in research and consultancy activity, with over 5000 projects resulting in funding of over 1600 crores. Highly talented and eminent faculty, numbering over 350, warrant a great deal of support to make the best use of their ability to raise funds to conduct world class research.

I am very much committed to give my best in creating the right atmosphere to nurture excellence in research and consultancy activities of IITH. I would like to summarize my viewpoint as a Dean SRC, as given in the following bulleted points.

  • Working closely with the Director and faculty to create a dynamic environment that encourages the identification of most important challenges on the multifaceted technological and scientific issues that are challenging to the world in general and India in particular.
  • To create a clear plan for sustaining the great strides that IITH has made and to seek ways to enhance work culture, especially with the inclusion of all faculty. Proactive planning to make continuous brainstorming with faculty along with the industry, line ministries and other academic institutions. Planning to create an ambience to strongly encourage both domestic and international collaborations.
  • Making problem statements at different levels, like start-ups across the disciplines all the way up to mega-challenges faced by different industries such as healthcare, climate change, energy, materials, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, water, green technologies, solutions to achieve sustainable development goals. Then, actively seek ways to address these well-defined problem statements by planning at different levels.
  • Further, I would like to have a separate bi-monthly meeting in different areas by core-group scientists in those 8 to 10 different areas to seek ways of involving IITH.
  • Have inclusivity in fostering the plans for identifying grand challenges and develop a plan to realize that IITH matters to Indian Science and Technology.
  • To come up with a suitable reward system to identified faculty to encourage them to give their best.
